Brentwood savior is, apparently, will be the new 250,000 sq.m of development to include a 6-screen cinema, multi-storey parking, retail section and 14 apartments. general feeling is that the film would be good for the city, but at smaller scales. There is concern that the cinema complex and attract antisocial behavior. When this project is completed, it is hoped that the complex will be maintained and supervised properly with a permanent security. A good example is near Festival Leisure Park, Basildon. It was built many years ago in a region that has had problems, but it has 24 hour security and there was never any major incidents reported there.
Parking is a big problem for residents and businesses in Brentwood. Brentwood Council offer discounts on multi-storey car park, while the High Street development is underway. Most local businesses think that parking should be free in all parking lots while the work is done.
There is a large amount of commercial space in the borough and large companies have been in Brentwood for many years and still remain there.
The hospital site St. Foy was part of a major development a few years ago creating a benchmark of important business. British Telecom has its headquarters there. The Ford Motor Company has been in Brentwood for many years.
