New York City Real Estate euphemisms?? I put a list of euphemism that brokers use here in NYC to rent / sell shares and property. What are the common euphemisms rare or hypothetical. It is allowed to be funny. Here is what I have to this day.
= brick plaster was destroyed
up & coming neighborhood = the ghetto
transport = there is a right Skytrain out of the window
Council co-op = Think cool enough to sit at our table? Good luck!
Contemporary = was built in the 70s and has not been renovated since
Retro = has not been renovated since the 50s
Convenient to shopping there = bodega right outside your front door where the drunks, like to get together and Enclave.
Large = In the Bronx
Views of Manhattan = Not in Manhattan
Laundry close = No laundry in the building, not to mention the unit
Cozy = a small apartment with a radiator that is always full (even in August) and the windows do not open.
Hit me with a little more .... it is allowed to be funny
"Flat calm" = The downstairs neighbor will complain if you walk into the apartment.
"Perfect for working couple" = occupied by their owners and we really do not want you living here. Just send us a check to save us from foreclosure
"Close to transport" = The bus you need to take the subway is only 12 blocks.
"Lots of charm = has not been renovated since 1940.
Historic building = five floors without elevator
Con Air = no roof.
= running water along the walls.
has a potential total recostruction .= needs.
A diamond in the rough ****, = needs work
