Many recently built or renovated houses have a bidet, but the culture has not taken bidet in Great Britain. We prefer to have smelly bums and dirty underwear.

I heard a broadcast on the radio once the hygiene of the European population and the Italians have been topping the list as having more showers and retention generally cleaner than everyone else (perhaps because that they are descendants of the Romans, who were so good with the plumbing).
