Machine Washable Kitchen Rugs

My kitchen countertops are a medium sage green. The cabinets are maple, as is my kitchen table. The walls are painted gold and I harvest black appliances. The rug under the kitchen table are red, golds and greens, and I added some red accents with kitchen towels.

I want to order chair covers for my kitchen table, but I am torn between "play it safe" with a soft green or sage goes bold with red. I have both so I could change them, but I just can not afford right now.

We also have 2 cats, my husband and I both think the red would show less dirt. But they are machine washable, so we got the green, you could easily throw in the washer if stained or dirty.

As you mix the most garish color could imagine I think anything else will make a difference. What about blue pink polka purple.
