Modern Bath Accessories

So we have this little half bathroom in our house thats so simple looking ugly for the anniversary of my mother that I wanted to surprise him to paint, make new tiles, new accessories and everything. Color scheme that I thought was brown and light blue. classic but a bit modern. The real question, I guess I was when repainting the bathroom What would I really need? just paint primer,? and if you have other suggestions to make this half bath (much like a toilet sink and shower) better, please let me know.

and I know that my mother will not mind repainting it, it would appreaciative on the effort to correct it. Thank you people.

I use primer Kilzer. You can find at any Home Depot .. and maybe Lowes or other home improvement stores. We made the mistake of a little painting once in a bathroom and after a few months, my ceiling is stained. The former owners of the house had smoked inside and tar and other toxic stuff, and the dirt had seeped through the paint. As I painted the ceilings white, bad complexion and I was forced to repaint again. And yes, we had washed down the walls before painting. Kilzer is the only thing I know that should cover 100% of the dirt or anything that you miss.
