Roll In Shower Has anyone built a roll-in shower room wheechair pre existing? We live in a house of 80 years with a fairly large bathroom. Our son was injured in an accident and is now quadriplegic. We need to change the bathroom shower for wheelchair access equipment. Since there will be someone in the shower with him, the region should be about 5 feet by 5 feet. Yes. I need more details. homeremodeler00@yahoo.com OK well what about this make your bathroom into a shower put a drain in the middle of the room and can be mixed with a bit of shower heads and BOOM you have a wheelchair access Shower! ofcorse but you have to work on the floor and walls ... but it is to u! When my old (and bad), parents moved in with me, I took a shower "kit" that was installed 6 feet wide from side to side and about 3 feet deep come back ... He was the recipient, the three sides and two small "seats" built in and I mean real quick. I do not know who's butt could take on these seats, so I just put a white plastic shower seat in the middle of them to sit. Then I installed a shower head that comes on about a 4 foot pipe so they can shower themselves in a sitting position. The temp controls are handy and flow control on the right where the shower head. Yes, 5x5 is reasonable. We took a shower stall standing and replaced (after adding an additional wall) with a shower base special ordered from a factory outlet plumbing here locally, and three walls lined with FRP . Worked on pretty well. A couple other suggestions from my personal experience ... 1. get a shower chair that is made of all PVC pipes. They are very light and EXCLUDE rust. and 2. if you can get a shower that has a "pause" (sorry, I do not know the technical term) for the flow of water. You will find that useful as well.
