Shower Curtain Hooks How can I make metal shower curtain hooks to glide on a metal rod? I have both hooks and shower rod in a satin nickel finish and hooks do not slide smoothly on the rod. Is there something I can put on the rod to help? I had these shower hooks Bed Bath and Beyond (I think they just brushed nickel ... is this the same satin nickel? Anyway, I'm sure you could find the match somewhere) that have little roller ball on top that help rings / curtain glides very smoothly. Previously, I used regular hooks and they were always getting caught and falling. It was a pain until I found these I was thrilled. Look in the shower curtain aisle of any store in the house, most places have now. If you have already encountered these problems, sorry, I'm working on the assumption that you have regular hooks. Good luck. The problem is that the satin finish is abrasive. easiest, least expensive and longest lasting remedy? Go to local home improvement store and buy the steel wool. There are several grades available, but you want # 0000 or # 000. The first time I use to finish glass and chrome. It will not scratch anything and cleans perfectly smooth. Get $ 1.50 and rub the rod down. Slick without greasy residue, to replace something or lose a lot of time Spray Polish works - not sure where you came from, but here in the United Kingdom, we pledge and other brands that work a treat. WD40 would I feel after a while cause dirt on the shaft - which makes it even worse. You can try to Teflon or silicone spray. Spray it on a rag and wipe the rod with the cloth to prevent dirt and drops. You'd probably have to apply it often enough, but it's worth trying. Durex Play lubricants obtain and rub it on !!!!! its water based so easy to wash if you want too, you can also use it for other thig too !!!!! WD40 my dear Watson just spray with WD40 WD-40 on a rag Posted on May 2, 2010.
