I just got a new teak shower stool. Should I put something on it before using it in the shower.? I am referring to a kind of protection for teak wood to help it last longer and look better after it gets wet.
Its going to leech very strongly in the shower with soap, etc. .. No matter what you put on it ... It will decompose and may look worse than natural wood .. All polyurethane pot or two solutions still fall in a shower .. The best thing I can think of is a heavy oiling .. With .. linen or the like, and pour over a true thickness and repeat .. You can then re-oil your stool without the terrible job of stripping and sanding polyurethane resins or .. Good luck ..
You can apply mineral oil or use a polyurethane finish on it. If you go to a marine supply store they have "teak oil" is used for teak presentations on boats and yachts. "Teak Oil" has coloring in it and the color will run when wet. If it's something you want to watch Nice, I would look into getting a polyurethane "Spar" finish and give two or three layers. You can choose between glossy or satin finish so it will satisfy your tastes. Application of mineral oil to protect wood and keep it looking rich and dark brown, it is oil and could be a little slippery. Do not let the bare wood it will begin to mold in the grain and rich color bleach and turn gray.
