Attaching a toilet that runs is usually a simple, inexpensive remedy may be owners. To replace the ball cap, cut off the water in the toilet tank. The stop is usually behind and below the toilet tank. Flush the toilet. Lift the guide ropes or chains that attach the ball cap to the handle. Remove the old ball cap defective. Set up new cap on the valve seat. Back Slide the collar on the overflow tube and a center on the ball. Attach the collar of the ball. Attach the ball chain handle arm, leaving a half inch of slack in the chain. Test Assembly and replace the toilet lid. A leaking toilet can also be the result of a toilet tank that is too complete, pour water into the overflow tube. In a properly functioning toilet, the tank stop filling about three-quarters of an inch below the top of the overflow tube. When you look at the internal mechanism of your toilet work, if the water fills the top and on the flow tube on the cock of the ball (float and arm) are the likely culprit. To test this, lift the float arm. If the overflow stops, the float must be adjusted or replaced. A float can not function properly if it is cracked and filled with water. The heavier ball does not rise high enough to lift the lever and stop the action of filling.
