Toilet Offset

Toilet OffsetHave an old toilet? Try these water saving tips

Toilets use a little water. The toilets in the habit of using about 5 liters per flush until now just under 2 gallons. If you have an old toilet then you're probably a little more water that you really need. Replacing the toilet would be the best solution but there are some other scenarios that you can spend to help save some of the water toilet as the elderly, if you can not afford a new one.

The first step is to do the leak test. Take some food coloring and put it in the toilet tank and determine if a leak. Wait ten minutes and check the bowl to see if the food coloring has made its way. If yes, then there is a leak that must be corrected. Until the leak is fixed the water will be constantly open all day and all night. Fix the internal parts of the toilet to save water.

Another thing you can do is to fill a 2-liter bottle or a small milk jug with water and place it in the tank. This will take up space where else the water would fill the tank with each flush. It is a compensation for every flush. Experiment with different sized containers to ensure that you always have the power to hunt you need. That alone will save at least a thousand gallons a year.

At some point, it is better to upgrade to a new toilet that uses less than 2 liters per flush, but these tips will help you save water even on older models.
