Waffle Shower Curtain

Waffle Shower CurtainYou show with reusable bags, but Green is your bathroom?

It may seem a strange question. But if you strive in your daily life to be green, it should extend to most private rooms. And we're not talking about painting here! We talk about what you are and do not make your bathroom more favorable to the ground.

In addition to the environmentally friendly things you already do, like recycling and the use of reusable grocery bags dandy, it's much more you can do to live a greener life.

Think of your bathroom ... really.

1. Water Use

Water conservation is a big deal as most people think. It takes energy to heat water, and if you do not use any solar or wind all the time, you're burning fossil fuels in order to have hot water and toilets that do not sweat the summer. Consider changing to a low-flow shower head or even a toilet water conservation to save water at both global and lower energy consumption. (If you have a water bill, your savings will help pay for switching.) Make it a habit to conserve water during your daily routine. Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, shaving your legs, or waiting for your air conditioner do its job. In the bath, do not fill the tub as high as possible. Use the lowest temperature of the water you can stand in the shower, and set a timer for three minutes. (If you can not get your body in three minutes, there is a problem!) And if you have children, train them at an early age to use the timer, otherwise they will be under the shower until that hot water flows.

2. Lighting

Daylight is free and does not cause pollution. Let the light in your bathroom, especially during the cold season, and it can help heat the room. Similarly, shades and curtains around during the warm seasons, keeping the heat as much as possible, so that the air has less work to do. Switch to compact fluorescent bulbs, which consume less electricity and last longer than incandescent bulbs. Buy lights with a sensor that closes during the day.

3. Personal care

When you use items in your bathroom, looking for more environmentally friendly products skin care, hair care products and cosmetics, which are not only better for your body, but better for the Earth because they are produced with the environment in mind. Look for labeling that designates them as organic, not tested on animals, containing all natural ingredients, and verify that the package is recyclable.

4. Towels

Consider replacing them with old towels organic cotton fiber, hemp or bamboo, which are all made from renewable sources. Take a little further and look thinner, embossed towels instead of thickness, softness, because they take less time and consume less energy in the dryer. Reuse your towels once before washing them more, too. You get out of the shower clean, so your towels may not be very dirty! Always wash your towels in one load of laundry, and use a green detergent. old towels can be transformed into a reusable shopping bag or beach tote, if you're a crafty person. Send your old towels to animal shelter, or even cut to rags instead of throwing them away.

Believe it or not, you can have a big impact in these smaller pieces in making wise choices. Think a bit about how the bathroom is part of the environment "Big Picture", and to take measures such as taking reusable bags with you at the grocery store or using public transport will a long way towards making our planet a better place to live.
